SUMMARY:Intuitive Storytelling Training
DESCRIPTION:Leo Sofer has been telling stories since 1989 and has developed Intuitive Storytelling as a way of accessing our inherent wisdom and expressing it in story form. He has worked with thousands of people over the last 25 years\, telling stories and leading trainings in Intuitive Storytelling.\n\nFor more information about this training see this page on Leo’s website.\n\nLeo is a masterful teacher and storyteller! This course gave me a deeper and stronger connection to my intuition and creativity. I was constantly delighted with the stories that unfolded and the relationships that were formed with the other members of the class. It was a joy to participate and rekindle the magic of stories!\nDeb Dunn\, Canada

SUMMARY:‘Daphne’s Daughters’ Summer Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Opening Event: Friday 14th September 1-8pm.  \nDaphne’s Daughters are holding their second summer art exhibition at Jellyfish in Buckfastleigh.  Sylvee\, Kat\, Lynny and Chrissie’s artwork brings them the opportunity to collectively display their work as well as commemorating their wonderfully inspirational mother\, Daphne.  The four sisters’ eclectic works of art draw on a variety of subject matter including differing memories of their childhood growing up on the farm\, their love of gardens and the wider environment. Introduction to art started at a young age and they spent many happy hours drawing and painting.  Their mother\, being a teacher\, encouraged their artistic talent but having to be frugal she would cut up the inside of animal feed bags and stitch them together to use as scrapbooks with flour and water mixed to use as glue and brushes made from twigs and horse hair. \nDaphne was inventive and made the girls pretty flowery dresses and colourful knitted or crocheted jumpers; it was a bonus if they fitted.  When the girls were young they would have the pleasure of wearing knitted swimming costumes\, which were fine until they actually went in the sea!  Daphne played the piano and the violin (not at the same time though!)\, she wrote poetry\, stories and plays\, she loved drawing\, painting or making pottery objects\, in fact tried whatever craft took her fancy. Daphne even had a crochet pattern printed in a French magazine and won a competition in the Farmers weekly. \nThe sisters shared memories include hay making time\, when their Dad\, Jim would spend long hot days in the fields.  The smell of newly mown grass still conjures up scenes of the hayfield; when Daphne would appear through the field gate carrying a big basket stuffed with sandwiches\, freshly baked cakes together with a huge jug of hot sweet tea.  That was heaven after working or playing for hours in a hot dusty field.  Whatever age the children were expected to help; driving the tractor\, loading the trailer\, stacking the rick.  Often they would try to avoid doing any of this and hide away in the ‘houses’ they built out of the bales. \nThis exhibition is a lovely family experience and affords a unique opportunity to showcase the four sister’s artwork.  We hope you will enjoy visiting the exhibition and find something that appeals to you.

SUMMARY:Stories and Songs of Reunion
DESCRIPTION:An evening of dynamic storytelling interweaved with sublime songs that will draw you into a remembering of your kinship with all life. Stories are an ideal way of remembering things we have always known but somehow have forgotten. \nLeo plays guitar and Sundara plays flutes of all description\, and they sing touching two-part harmony duets that will draw you deeper into the “mythic realm”\, that place where a part of us always lives\, waiting to be witnessed. An enchanting and enlivening evening! \nLeo Sofer has been telling stories for almost 30 years\, and has developed Intuitive Storytelling\, a way of giving voice to the stories we all carry inside which he has been teaching for many years. \nLeo and Sundara have been singing and playing music together since they first met 17 years ago\, and have led many community singing events over the years\, in the Findhorn Community in Scotland\, and also in Stroud\, Gloucestershire. They have recently moved to Devon and are the new owners of Jellyfish. \nLeo writes a fortnightly blog and creates a monthly podcast at Stories of the Journey Home based on his intuitive storytelling. Here’s what his readers and listeners have been saying: \n\n“Thank you so much Leo\, your emails are the only mailing list email I’m signed up to that I actually open! It’s a delight and your work is appreciated. “\nMegan Chapman Campbell \n\n“Thank you Leo\, you have such a gift! Story telling is in our soul and there are so many average story tellers out there (mainly the visual film variety) and so to know you are crafting such deep nourishing stories for us is sooo inspiring and I am so grateful. Thank you…”\nNina Dobson \n\n“I so love your interviews and the stories that emerge from them. Thank you for sharing so generously! As always…food for thought. So grateful that you are in the world doing this joyful\, soulful work!”\nDonna Powers \n\n“I have LOVED your blog ever since I found it. Thank you! For all you do and are. I find that your stories truly transport me to another place inside\, where I find an answer that I often didn’t know I was seeking. So important in our world.”\nCorva Rose \n\nEvery story of yours touches me\, Leo\, and the touching itself is the healing. Thanks!\nDorothee Giffhorn \n\nI LOOOOOOVE your stories\, Leo! Such beauty! And I always feel gently touched by spirit.\nMaira Jorba Galdos \n\nWow\, you deserved my full attention\, and I sincerely enjoyed listening\, and took the time for it\, while relaxing. Soothing! big thanks…\nNiels Kuipers \n\nSuch a Fantastic Intuitive Story. My Heart Sings! It has a message for everyone. I’m really looking forward to your next filmed story!\nIngrid \n\nIncredible story Leo\, really emphasizes getting out of our own way\, of how we co-create with the universe and how we are all connected even to that place of spirit. I know this story has planted seeds and it will go deeper as time goes on\, I look forward to your next video entry!\nBrian \n\nThank you for this beautiful story Leo. It resonates with me as I listen to my own heart lately and really listen to my patients and their families as a nurse. I catch glimpses of being connected and a part of the whole when I listen in that way. It helped me acknowledge my gifts.\nTrish \n\nThe symbolism and timing of this particular story is for me\, beyond amazing. Thank you for this story. I have cried on the shore of this beautiful lake long enough. Now it is time to rise and share the Joy and Love that lives along the Lake’s path.\nPatricia LaVallee \n\nBeyond Beautiful!! Was just discussing this concept with a friend today! Going to send her a link to the story as it is a much more eloquent and moving description than I was able to make. I heard of you via Mark Silver and LOVED your story of the marketplace you did for him. I found it incredibly healing. I cried. Anyhow\, enjoying more of your work now. Thank you\, thank you\, thank you!\nKaty DeBra

His work includes landscape\, portraiture and abstraction and his themes range from personal biographic subject matter to current political and world news stories. Come and see! \nGlad writes: “The work in this exhibition\, ‘What shall we do tomorrow’\, explores how we live with images both worn out and potent. I am at once driven by an amnesic compulsion (a drive towards loss and annihilation of memory) to archive and aestheticise images\, while equally coveting their ability to prick\, puncture and cut through the dispassionate collecting\, which can yield moments of insight that extend knowledge. While painting\, I have authorship of this personal\, political\, ethical\, aesthetic and embodied experience. It occurs between archiving and forgetting\, between material and signification\, between interiority and exteriority. These re-acquaintances with images are critical to the formulation of ‘self’. \nGlad Fryer has been painting since he was a teenager. He has had a studio practice since 1998 and originally moved to Devon to do a Fine Art degree at Dartington College of Arts\, followed by a Phd in Painting completed in 2007. Since then\, he has been a University Lecturer in Fine Art and currently teaches on the Fine Art course in Falmouth. He has his studio in Buckfastleigh\, Devon\, where he lives with his partner and their children. Glad has exhibited his work in various solo and group shows in the UK and in Europe – more details on his website. www.gladfryer.co.uk \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:In Between both sides of my heart
DESCRIPTION:Opening Event: Saturday 7th April\, 4-7pm\n< IN BETWEEN BOTH SIDES OF MY HEART > \nshows a selection of drawings / paintings / photographs that have been created over the last decade. \nDeeply touched by the Beauty and Terror of being human and the ongoing inspiration of finding my place and voice in this world\, I open myself to give gratitude for Nature and her always inspiring Presence\, for the possibility of creating openness and movement \, to share and hopefully inspire us to keep on dreaming\, creating\, celebrating\, dancing our quest for more sense of balance in Life. \nYou are welcome to have a gentle dive into my creations. \nLies Van Hee \nLies Van hee is an artist\, a mom\, dancer and partner\, currently living in the abundant beauty of the Devon Hills and Dartmoor. From a young age\, she is deeply touched and inspired by the Beauty and Terror of being human\, the state of connection between Humanity and Nature and the ongoing journey of finding her place and voice in this world. In 2007 she receives her masterdegree in Visual Arts with a video/installation/drawings “ Beware of not getting Lost “ and she starts an in depth study into the proces of creation\, which led her towards exploration of different workshops\, ceremonies\, ways of co-creating with other people. In 2010 she and her partner welcome their son into the family. She replaces her studio for one suitcase\, travelling through the landscapes of motherhood\, relationships\, gardening\, Nature… Filling those precious moments of space with drawing/silence/dreaming/writing/listening/photograpy/dancing. \nAt this time she starts to dance on very regular base. The language of her art is changing through movement and dance becomes a very close friend to the visual aspect of her creations. \nHer work has been described as “ highly creative and sensitive\, opening\, reflective\, subtle\, visionary\, moving\, powerfull\, beyond words\, soultouching\, Essence\, Silence\, Poetic\, playfull\, light\, magical\, mystical\, clear\, deeply connected with Nature and Spirit\, and a deep exploration of the essence of the elements and our interconnection with them\, combining a profound intuitive understanding of our inter dependency with nature and the sacred aspect of it”.  www.liesvanhee.com \nAs ‘artist in residence’ she is part of Middle Earth Medicine Ways\, a center founded by Caroline Carey\, where you will find internationally run courses in movement and ecstatic dance\, with connections to our ancestral stories\, to nature and to the elements. A place to learn about your innate creativity\, your own healing path\, discovering rituals and ceremonial work that is both traditional and new. Through this process and specializing in body (movement) and heart (emotion) centered practices including the deep journey into our shadows\, there are many opportunities for personal growth and developing your own journey. The essence of this work is to marry our core wounds with our aspirations to discover our authentic and fully integrated self\, thus becoming truly empowered\, allowing the soul and the ego to live in harmony. www.middleearthmedicine.com \n  \n<> \n  \n

SUMMARY:Opening Evening - Renewals and Reflections
DESCRIPTION:Karn writes:\nRenewal and Reflections – the cycle of the seasons and now spring bringing forth new life. A new start\, a new beginning each day\, with the sunrise and the sunset\, the stillness of water and the stormy seas. \nIt is my love of the peace and tranquility we can find in nature that has influenced me in the paintings that I am doing now. \nI travelled some years ago with my husband and small children in Europe and North Africa\, both of us painted and played music. We spent time in the mountains\, the desert and by the sea\, and the memories of the places we went to have inspired me in these recent paintings. \nPrevious to this\, I studied ceramics at Art College\, worked in potteries in Denmark and at Poole Pottery. I continue to make pottery\, both sculptural and functional. I also studied paint effects\, finishes and murals\, from which I have done several commissions. \nMy paintings are mostly oil on canvas. I have the good fortune of painting with a lovely group of women and learning techniques from a wonderful mentor whose knowledge is truly inspiring.\n \n\n \n \n\n Brian writes:\nArt is something that I always loved to do – be it painting\, pen doodles and the more fine-art based abstract photography. The photography side of things was where I started from (but even then the artwork was always there – sometimes as inspiration to the photos)\, drawings and abstracts in watercolours and pen and ink\, plus a few tentative attempts at putting ideas down on canvas. \nThe major and more recent “why” comes down to experiencing one of those unwanted\, unwelcome and prolonged periods of being out of work some years ago now. And I was looking for something to fill that otherwise dead time whilst waiting to hear about jobs that so often failed to materialise\, something that wasn’t too much of a drain on my then limited resources. So painting it was! \nInitially starting with a purely abstract – seeing what worked and what didn’t. From there gradually evolving into a more structured approach\, but still keeping that abstract feel to what I was doing. Also seeing how that approach worked on found objects like driftwood\, as well as doing more traditional – i.e. “proper” paintings – and in the last few months blending these two styles together to see how they worked together – one of which is included in the current exhibition. \nI hope you enjoy the exhibition and that the above goes some way to explaining what exactly it is that I do! \nFor further info/commissions please contact: brian.weatherup@homecall.co.uk\nor visit Brian Weatherup on Facebook
