DESCRIPTION:All Genders Invited!  \nIn this 2-hour Healthy Masculine Introduction council-sharing circle\, James invites participants to explore the many meanings of “masculinity” embodied in all genders. By exploring and understanding how the immature/adolescent masculine (the shadow sides) show up in ourselves\, we can bring a balanced awareness to practice and integrate the healthy/mature sides of the various masculine archetypes. \nAs Council Circle sharing is based on participants’ own experiences and heart centered explorations– in a safe held format where vulnerability and trust are built – we are not offering advice or therapy; rather\, these Circles provide a rare opportunity to come together in community to witness\, appreciate\, and explore. \nJames holds this safe vulnerable trusting space with an intention to contribute to a cultural shift away from “right/wrong”\, “good/bad” ways of ‘acting’ masculine\, towards a balanced way of being\, moving into a more authentic\, emotionally-connected and life-affirming consciousness. DESCRIPTION:OM Voice Circles invite all who feel a calling to explore their voice\, discover the power of singing with devotion and experience the uplifting\, heart opening\, transformational healing effects of mantra\, chanting and sacred sound in a safe\, supportive\, loving and expansive environment. \nThis closed group\, held by Elise in Buckfastleigh at Jellyfish Community Hub\, meet once a fortnight for a series of 6 workshop sessions\, held once a season (usually in spring\, summer and autumn). The first OM Voice Circle of each series is open as a taster (£15)\, after which the circle is closed until the next season. The circle is closed for each course after the initial taster session to invite\, enhance and preserve the intimacy and unity created when the same group of individuals gather regularly. Collectively we will dive deeply into what can be a profound\, tender and deeply healing journey. \n1ST WORKSHOP IS AN OPEN TASTER: £15 (Advance booking required). It explores in colour and ink\, feelings in response to the wild sea and the edge of the land. It records a time when the cancer diagnosis became real for Abigail and she struggled with all the major decisions she had to face.  It will also be a launch of ‘The Lightening Tree’  Poetry by Abigail Robinson. \n‘Art days with Abigail are a shared experience of soulful conversation\, painting and tea!  Returning home to ourselves supported by the vastness and drama of the sea and the containment of the land and the expressions of our hearts in the connection with each other.’  Kate \n‘Images are a documentation of sacred relationship. A dancing conversation with the freedom of the sea. Created within a soul space.  An alchemical vessel holding the liminal. Out of every day time\, yet coexisting with both light and profound human relating. SUMMARY:‘Daphne’s Daughters’  Summer Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Opening Event: Friday 14th September 1-8pm.  \nDaphne’s Daughters are holding their second summer art exhibition at Jellyfish in Buckfastleigh.  Sylvee\, Kat\, Lynny and Chrissie’s artwork brings them the opportunity to collectively display their work as well as commemorating their wonderfully inspirational mother\, Daphne.  The four sisters’ eclectic works of art draw on a variety of subject matter including differing memories of their childhood growing up on the farm\, their love of gardens and the wider environment. Introduction to art started at a young age and they spent many happy hours drawing and painting.  Their mother\, being a teacher\, encouraged their artistic talent but having to be frugal she would cut up the inside of animal feed bags and stitch them together to use as scrapbooks with flour and water mixed to use as glue and brushes made from twigs and horse hair. \nDaphne was inventive and made the girls pretty flowery dresses and colourful knitted or crocheted jumpers; it was a bonus if they fitted.  When the girls were young they would have the pleasure of wearing knitted swimming costumes\, which were fine until they actually went in the sea!  Daphne played the piano and the violin (not at the same time though!)\, she wrote poetry\, stories and plays\, she loved drawing\, painting or making pottery objects\, in fact tried whatever craft took her fancy. Daphne even had a crochet pattern printed in a French magazine and won a competition in the Farmers weekly. \nThe sisters shared memories include hay making time\, when their Dad\, Jim would spend long hot days in the fields.  The smell of newly mown grass still conjures up scenes of the hayfield; when Daphne would appear through the field gate carrying a big basket stuffed with sandwiches\, freshly baked cakes together with a huge jug of hot sweet tea.  That was heaven after working or playing for hours in a hot dusty field.  Whatever age the children were expected to help; driving the tractor\, loading the trailer\, stacking the rick.  Often they would try to avoid doing any of this and hide away in the ‘houses’ they built out of the bales. \nThis exhibition is a lovely family experience and affords a unique opportunity to showcase the four sister’s artwork.  We hope you will enjoy visiting the exhibition and find something that appeals to you.

Stories are an ideal way of remembering things we have always known but somehow have forgotten. \nLeo plays guitar and Sundara plays flutes of all description\, and they sing touching two-part harmony duets that will draw you deeper into the “mythic realm”\, that place where a part of us always lives\, waiting to be witnessed. An enchanting and enlivening evening! \nLeo Sofer has been telling stories for almost 30 years\, and has developed Intuitive Storytelling\, a way of giving voice to the stories we all carry inside which he has been teaching for many years. \nLeo and Sundara have been singing and playing music together since they first met 17 years ago\, and have led many community singing events over the years\, in the Findhorn Community in Scotland\, and also in Stroud\, Gloucestershire. DESCRIPTION:Paul is a self taught illustrator from Coventry\, now living in Buckfastleigh. He has been drawing from an early age\, with a passion for art\, music and cinema. He has drawn inspiration from prog-rock album covers (Yes\, Hawkwood\, Marillion and Pink Floyd) as well as the artwork of 2000ad and DC graphic novels. \nPaul writes: “Angel Finder is a unique collection of drawings I’ve loved and treasured over the years. This is my first exhibition where the original work is for sale. Prices do reflect my own sentiment for them. The teddy bear and child image has become my trademark and makes my work recognisable and personal”.

SUMMARY:WHAT SHALL WE DO TOMORROW?
DESCRIPTION:Glad works figuratively\, often from photographs or found images\, using disrupted surfaces and textures built up with oil paint\, sand\, pebbles\, varnish\, graphite and other materials. His work includes landscape\, portraiture and abstraction and his themes range from personal biographic subject matter to current political and world news stories. Come and see! \nGlad writes: “The work in this exhibition\, ‘What shall we do tomorrow’\, explores how we live with images both worn out and potent. I am at once driven by an amnesic compulsion (a drive towards loss and annihilation of memory) to archive and aestheticise images\, while equally coveting their ability to prick\, puncture and cut through the dispassionate collecting\, which can yield moments of insight that extend knowledge. While painting\, I have authorship of this personal\, political\, ethical\, aesthetic and embodied experience. It occurs between archiving and forgetting\, between material and signification\, between interiority and exteriority. These re-acquaintances with images are critical to the formulation of ‘self’. \nGlad Fryer has been painting since he was a teenager. He has had a studio practice since 1998 and originally moved to Devon to do a Fine Art degree at Dartington College of Arts\, followed by a Phd in Painting completed in 2007. Since then\, he has been a University Lecturer in Fine Art and currently teaches on the Fine Art course in Falmouth. SUMMARY:Cancelled - Mothiur Rahman –   The connection between Sufism\, Justice and the balancing of The Sacred Masculine and Feminine
DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately Mothiur has had to postpone his talk due to family circumstances. We haven’t fixed a new date yet. \nMothiur will speak about his exploration of how Sufism and the masculine and feminine energies can reshape new understandings of justice\, using his poetry as a vehicle for expressing some of the sentiments.  He is a member of the Mankind Project\, was “artist in resident” for a Sufi Conference in Kendall in 2017 that explored the Feminine and Masculine in balance\, and took part in a transnational law conference at Kings College in London on “Creating Justice for our Future” . He recently wrote a guest article for a series on The Feminine hosted at St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation & Peace in London called “Male Encounters with the Feminine”. \nMothiur is a lawyer by training and is setting up a practice called New Economy Law (https://www.neweconomylaw.org).
