SUMMARY:Resilient Communities in Troubled Times
DESCRIPTION:Restoring beauty\, growing skills and crafting systems to engage with local group conflicts\, grief\, feedback and what do you do in your groups when conflict happens; what do we mean when we talk about conflict\, what is it? how does it feel\, affect us\, do\, what can we do when it happens\, when things stop working and when differences show up? and what do we need/want to have already in place when it does… \nTime together for welcomes\, landing\, care\, lunch and explorations…for bearing witness\, engaging\, learning\, connecting and partings…. \nEVERYONE is welcome..and particularly it is an event that maybe you will take enough away with you\, those of you who want\, to then host similar evenings/days in your own groups/ communities with support from us online! \nparticipating AND financial co-response’ability’ \nWe invite all participants to Financial Co-responsibility for this event – a practice proposed by Dominic Dominic Barter (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhi8sxCPkvo&t=18s ) for consciously sustaining systems\, projects and events without conditioning participation on access to money. \nSo – this is neither charged nor free. During our time together we will share information about what has been needed to make it possible. We will offer a simple mechanism for any financial contributions to support what is needed AND at the same time\, for those that require financial support with transport and other simple costs to be with us on the day\, we will offer the same process to care for costs where possible that might otherwise present restrictions on your participation. \nQuestions\, Musings\, Wonderings? Please do contact gayano on 07933 743105 \nWhat do you need to bring? an open heart and a willingness to be stirred – and some lunch for yourself or to share…thank you x \nHosted through Giraffe Social Enterprises ( http://www.giraffesocialenterprises.org.uk/)\,

SUMMARY:12 Characters in Search of an Apocalypse
DESCRIPTION:The 12 Characters project is a worldwide call for community dialog around one of the two most significant challenges of our uncertain times – the ongoing collapse of the web of living beings that supports all life on Earth – a collapse that with each passing day gains momentum. Our goal is to get people talking with one another about what is happening to them\, their families\, and their communities. \n12 Characters in Search of an Apocalypse is brilliant and important work. It is necessary work. I am grateful to Giraffe Social Enterprise for taking this on. If somehow we make it to a more sane way of living\, it will be due to efforts like this one. \n— Derrick Jensen\, author of Endgame\, A Language Older Than Words\, and The Myth of Human Supremacy. \nHow did it come to be?\nThe morning the Brexit referendum results were announced I realized that I had told myself a false story. That because I was an American living in the UK and because I couldn’t vote\, there was nothing I could do about the process.I quickly realized how wrong I had been. I realized that there had been a gaping hole in the referendum process. Where I lived (rural Wales) and in most other places there were no public gatherings for neighbors to sit down and talk with one another about how they would be affected by leaving the EU. \nI decided then and there I wasn’t going to let that happen again. \nI realize that the same gaping whole is happening around what is often called “global warming” or “climate change” – there are no public gatherings where neighbors can share with one another how their families and their communities are being affected by the unravelling of the web of living beings that supports us. \nThis project – 12 Characters in Search of an Apocalypse – is my effort to change that. \nJason E Stewart \nsee: https://12characters.org.uk/ for more information.

SUMMARY:Satsang with Prajna
DESCRIPTION:Prajna welcomes everyone and everything to these open meetings\, referred to as  “satsang”. A warm welcome to be\, without pretense; to give full allowance for everything that arises in you\, light and dark. \nIn doing so\, what is unconscious becomes conscious. Awareness remains. As the content of mind/emotions empty into the wider context of you\, liberation unfolds naturally\, and uniquely for each person. You do not lack anything to realize your completeness. Inquiry\, contemplation\, and a stillness practice of “allowing everything to be as it is” — is a doorway to ‘direct knowing’ — ‘prajna’ — and embodying your wholeness. \nPrajna will begin with a guided meditation to silence followed by an open conversation on a particular aspect of awakening\, integration and embodiment. \nPrajna is here from California and is a spiritual teacher\, therapist\, and mother of three children\, Prajna is known for her depth of presence and welcoming every part of who we are to liberation. Inspired by her root teacher\, Adyashanti – her teachings are practical\, non-dogmatic and elicit the direct knowing of who we are amidst hardship and beauty. \nSpace is limited so please book – contact  Rachael at rachaelthomas.456@gmail.com or Tel 07846453047 . Please bring a cushion to sit on!

SUMMARY:Dialogical System Design
DESCRIPTION:How do we relearn the art of designing social systems that meet common needs\, helping communities heal from division and hate\, strengthen their resilience and potential to innovate\, and deepen their ability to serve all? \nIn this interactive evening presentation\, Dominic Barter will share his real-world experience with such social\, interpersonal and personal transformation in groups\, neighborhoods\, education\, justice\, organizations\, churches\, trade unions\, government and families. \nFor the last 23 years\, Dominic and his colleagues in Brazil have been developing successful new ways of arriving at liberatory ends through liberatory means. Guided by the work of Marshall Rosenberg their award-winning dialogical social systems have been applied in contexts from gang-controlled favela shanty towns to the federal government and are now in use in 47 countries. This talk will offer a window into what is possible when community reemerges as the basis of our social lives. \nFreely given contributions to the cost of the event and of the work itself welcome on the night. \nRegistration is required to attend this event. Please enter your details here.

SUMMARY:Healthy Masculine Introduction Circle
DESCRIPTION:All Genders Invited! \nIn this 2-hour Healthy Masculine Introduction council-sharing circle\, James invites participants to explore the many meanings of “masculinity” embodied in all genders. By exploring and understanding how the immature/adolescent masculine (the shadow sides) show up in ourselves\, we can bring a balanced awareness to practice and integrate the healthy/mature sides of the various masculine archetypes. \nAs Council Circle sharing is based on participants’ own experiences and heart centered explorations– in a safe held format where vulnerability and trust are built – we are not offering advice or therapy; rather\, these Circles provide a rare opportunity to come together in community to witness\, appreciate\, and explore. \nJames holds this safe vulnerable trusting space with an intention to contribute to a cultural shift away from “right/wrong”\, “good/bad” ways of ‘acting’ masculine\, towards a balanced way of being\, moving into a more authentic\, emotionally-connected and life-affirming consciousness. Participants are not simply serving their masculine\, they are supporting a reciprocal and nourishing relationship awakening with the feminine. \nRegistration is required @ www.HealthyMasculine.co.uk\, as there is a short introductory reading along with gentle internal guided preparations to anchor your participation by tuning in to your own personal explorations. \nNo one turned away for lack of funds.

SUMMARY:How Love Works
DESCRIPTION:Maintaining a love connection over many years is not always easy – if it was\, we would all be doing it. \nThis talks will introduce you to the most successful scientifically researched road map which you can use to support a lasting love connection. \nIt will lay out the ways in which love does and doesn’t work in a long term relationship\, a marriage or a partnership. \nThe founder of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy\, Dr Sue Johnson\, has declared that  “the code of love has been finally cracked” by scientific research. Loving and nourishing relationships need no longer be a  lottery and we do not need to suffer without understanding why things can get difficult in a long term relationship. If we know the underlying dynamics of what really happens in our couple\, we can use that map to find the ways out of the difficulties and back to enjoying our partnership again \nPhilip Jones is an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist working exclusively with couples in Buckfastleigh. SUMMARY:An evening of True Storytelling on the theme of "How We First Met"
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a story to tell about how you first met your partner\, lover\, or close friend? Some meetings seemed destined to happen\, others happen in the most bizarre circumstances\, or in ways that we’ll always remember. \nWe’ll sit in a circle and tell our stories. True Storytelling is not about performance\, it’s about sharing our stories in community\, for inspiration\, healing and mutual understanding. It’s also fine to just sit and listen! \nThe evening will be facilitated by Leo Sofer\, co-owner of Jellyfish and a storyteller for 30 years. \nFeedback from previous participants. \n“I’ve really enjoyed both the True Storytelling evenings I’ve been to. It’s a pleasure and a privilege to be able to listen\, really listen\, to other people telling about precious moments in their lives.  And to have the chance to tell about your own experiences and memories (only if you want to)\, with others listening to you too. It’s inspiring and entertaining and humbling\, all at once. I’m waiting to hear what the next topic will be!” Elle \n“I enjoyed speaking/hearing stories from the heart and truth\, evolving spaciousness and depth\, warm embodied listening….Unconditioned moments\, reflections without preconceptions or dogma.” Abigail Robinson. \n“Through a kind invitation for us to share our story\, Leo helped us create this special place where we were listened to\, and our stories were brought to life. They were stories from our past\, but we brought them to the present. And in that respectful and safe circle our experiences and stories were honoured. I left feeling full of life.” Thais Lloyd. \n

SUMMARY:Wildness Tempered by Love
DESCRIPTION:An Exhibition of paintings by Abigail Robinson and Kate Coombs\, expressing a time spent together at Blackpool sands. It explores in colour and ink\, feelings in response to the wild sea and the edge of the land. It records a time when the cancer diagnosis became real for Abigail and she struggled with all the major decisions she had to face.  It will also be a launch of ‘The Lightening Tree’  Poetry by Abigail Robinson. \n‘Art days with Abigail are a shared experience of soulful conversation\, painting and tea!  Returning home to ourselves supported by the vastness and drama of the sea and the containment of the land and the expressions of our hearts in the connection with each other.’  Kate \n‘Images are a documentation of sacred relationship. A dancing conversation with the freedom of the sea. Created within a soul space.  An alchemical vessel holding the liminal. Out of every day time\, yet coexisting with both light and profound human relating. That which is wild\, tempered by love. \nPoetry is an attempt to find the wholeness that exists beyond wounding and death. The living being that is sustained in spite of\, and grown around\, violation. The lightening tree is both a reality and a metaphor for where the world of the living meets the world of the dead.’  Abigail \n

SUMMARY:‘Daphne’s Daughters’ Summer Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Opening Event: Friday 14th September 1-8pm.  \nDaphne’s Daughters are holding their second summer art exhibition at Jellyfish in Buckfastleigh.  Sylvee\, Kat\, Lynny and Chrissie’s artwork brings them the opportunity to collectively display their work as well as commemorating their wonderfully inspirational mother\, Daphne.  The four sisters’ eclectic works of art draw on a variety of subject matter including differing memories of their childhood growing up on the farm\, their love of gardens and the wider environment. Introduction to art started at a young age and they spent many happy hours drawing and painting.  Their mother\, being a teacher\, encouraged their artistic talent but having to be frugal she would cut up the inside of animal feed bags and stitch them together to use as scrapbooks with flour and water mixed to use as glue and brushes made from twigs and horse hair. \nDaphne was inventive and made the girls pretty flowery dresses and colourful knitted or crocheted jumpers; it was a bonus if they fitted.  When the girls were young they would have the pleasure of wearing knitted swimming costumes\, which were fine until they actually went in the sea!  Daphne played the piano and the violin (not at the same time though!)\, she wrote poetry\, stories and plays\, she loved drawing\, painting or making pottery objects\, in fact tried whatever craft took her fancy. Daphne even had a crochet pattern printed in a French magazine and won a competition in the Farmers weekly. \nThe sisters shared memories include hay making time\, when their Dad\, Jim would spend long hot days in the fields.  The smell of newly mown grass still conjures up scenes of the hayfield; when Daphne would appear through the field gate carrying a big basket stuffed with sandwiches\, freshly baked cakes together with a huge jug of hot sweet tea.  That was heaven after working or playing for hours in a hot dusty field.  Whatever age the children were expected to help; driving the tractor\, loading the trailer\, stacking the rick.  Often they would try to avoid doing any of this and hide away in the ‘houses’ they built out of the bales. \nThis exhibition is a lovely family experience and affords a unique opportunity to showcase the four sister’s artwork.  We hope you will enjoy visiting the exhibition and find something that appeals to you.
