DESCRIPTION:What are we here to do? Have we done it yet? \nThis is a story all about purpose\, but also about how maddening it can be not to find one. \nWhat are we really\, really here to do? And how do we find that? \nThis story tells of a weaver who comes upon a tree growing in the forest\, from which luminous strands of thread are hanging. \nEvery day he goes out there to find more threads hanging. They glow with a light of their own\, seemingly filled with magic. \nWhat to do? At first he keeps them hidden in a drawer\, but eventually life draws him into action. This is a freedom of BEING. They are whole and complete because there is no separation between them and the world. \nBut the separation slowly starts to creep in. Our world\, our society trains us all to differentiate not just between self and other\, but between self and nature and self and the divine. Adults living in this modern\, technological society are so very far from the freedom and wholeness of our babyhood. Cut off from others\, cut off from nature\, cut off from the divine. Isolated and alone. \nWhat can bring down the walls? What can restore our sense of interconnection with the world\, with nature and the divine? \nCome and listen to a story by Leo Sofer\, which tells of a Queen who discovers a hidden palace in the mountains where an elder Queen instructs her in the art of union – union of heart\, mind and body – a healing which restores her whole realm to goodness and vitality. \nLeo has been telling intuitive stories for almost 25 years. Come and enjoy a warming bowl of soup (provided by The Seed\, Buckfastleigh’s community wholefood store) and then listen to heart-warming stories told by Leo Sofer\, with enchanting music from Sundara Sofer. \nClaire’s Unbreakable Hair \nOnce there was a girl whose hair could not be cut. Her mother tried scissors\, which only broke! Her father tried an axe. Same thing! But why? Why is she the only girl with unbreakable hair? It takes a meeting with a wise old woman and many adventures before she discovers what her hair is really for. (Storytelling lasts 40m). Ages 5+ \nLeo Sofer started storytelling in 1989 and has given thousands of performances for children in schools all over England. He has created a website of stories for children\, Palace of Stories\, which features over 100 audio stories for children. \nSundara Sofer started playing music as a young child\, and plays accordion\, harmonium\, flutes and whistles. Her latest love is the Handpan\, a magical instrument that instantly transports its listeners into story land! Sundara and Leo have been playing music together since they met in 1999. \n£4 per adult or child\, £10 family ticket for up to 4 people. \nOnline booking recommended as spaces are limited.

DESCRIPTION:The washerwoman and the Lord’s ring is a powerful story of lost innocence reclaimed. We all come into the world “trailing clouds of glory” as Wordsworth wrote\, able to perceive the world as a miracle\, something perfect and ever fresh. \nBut life’s daily grind\, and the challenges we face\, and the traumas we experience\, all cause us to close down and lose touch with our capacity to wonder and marvel at the beauty of life. \nThis story tells of how an old washerwoman\, racked all her life with a sense of guilt and failure\, rediscovers her lost innocence through a strange sequence of events beginning with the loss of a ring belonging to the Lord of the manor. \nStorytelling has the power to draw us back down inside ourselves\, reconnecting us with what is most essential\, enabling us to recover what we have forgotten. \nThe evening will be a evocative mix of story and music. Leo Sofer has been a storyteller for over thirty years and has told many thousands of stories\, in schools\, arts venues\, and in diverse settings all over the world. SUMMARY:An Introduction to Ascension
DESCRIPTION:Leo Sofer (Valmiki) will be sharing about his journey as a spiritual seeker from the age of 16. \n“After many years of development through nonviolent communication and intuitive storytelling\, I found ascension\, a practice rooted in the Vedic wisdom of ancient India\, but presented in a contemporary form that makes it more accessible to westerners. \nI’ve learned that our minds are the principle limiting factor in our experience of life. As we become more aware of our thinking process and start to see it as just one small corner of our total experience of life\, we can start to experience a fuller and richer tapestry of life. Learning that we are less “in control” of our lives than we thought is actually a very liberating thing! \nThis will be an informal talk in which I’ll share some of my own journey\, and the limitations that even being “emotionally aware” and “intuitive” can have. I’ll then talk about ascension and how it has given me the “gold” I was looking for all my life: an intimate sense of life\, love and meaning that continues to expand! I’ll also talk about how ascension works\, what the experience of ascending is like\, and how you can learn it. \nI’ll be teaching a weekend introduction to ascension in Jellyfish on 26-28th April.
